January 29, 2010 – Harris, N.Y. – The Sullivan West High School Girls Basketball team presented Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) CEO Steven Ruwoldt with a check for $2,000 on Jan. 26. The funds were raised at the First Annual “Pink Out” game on Dec. 22 where all proceeds were donated to CRMC’s Oncology department.
The game matched the Sullivan West Bulldogs against the Tri-Valley Lady Bears, and with Tri-Valley’s help, the Sullivan West girls were able to raise the $2,000. Sullivan West coach Pat Donovan, who originally came up with the concept, said, “We wanted to hold an event that directly benefited the community and the CRMC Oncology department was an excellent choice. Once we decided where the funds would go, the girls on my team and Tri-Valley’s team did all of the work. I am very proud of their effort. It was very successful and we plan on making this an annual event.”
Ruwoldt added, “It is great to see local communities coming together to raise funds specifically for the community. We are touched by their donation and the funds will be spent directly on patient care within our Oncology department.”
Cancer Care at CRMC includes a well-developed oncology program that offers a multidisciplinary team approach combined with quality care. The program continues to be distinguished by the excellent, compassionate care provided to its patients.
