Orange Regional Medical Center and Catskill Regional Medical Center to Host Free Diabetes Education Event
The Greater Hudson Valley Health System, comprised of Orange Regional Medical Center and Catskill Regional Medical Center, will present a free and informative diabetes program “Relax, Refocus, Refresh ” on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Orange Regional Medical Center’s Conference Center, at 707 East Main Street, Middletown. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by November 2 by calling 1-888-321-6762.
Diabetes educators and experienced physicians knowledgeable about diabetes will be on hand to discuss topics such as Navigating the Diabetes Maze of Meds, “Mindful Eating and Diabetes: Am I Really Hungry?”, “The Happiness Advantage” and more. Guest speakers will include Elliott Friedman, MD, FACE, Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, Lorin K. Mask, MA, CPLP, and Director of the diabetes programs for Greater Hudson Valley Health System, Shelly DeHaan, RD, CDE.
According to the American Diabetes Association, over 30.3 million Americans – 9.4% of the population – have diabetes. Diet, insulin, and oral medication to lower blood glucose levels are the foundation of diabetes treatment and management. Patient education and self-care practices are also important aspects of disease management that help people with diabetes lead normal lives.
