How Catskill Regional Medical Center Is Helping Seniors Continue To Live At Home
Adult Day Health Care program provides affordable, personalized alternative to nursing homes
Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) program is designed to keep individuals over age 50 living at home and in their communities safely. The ADHC program, provided at Catskill Regional in Harris, operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants are provided daily transportation to and from a designated secure unit within the Hospital and also receive medical and rehabilitative care. The ADHC Program also offers complementary activities that promote and enhance physical, cognitive and social well-being, plus encourage independence and boost self-esteem.
For the ever-increasing elderly population, ADHC can be a cost-effective alternative to home health services, nursing homes or other assisted living facilities.
Costs associated with the ADHC program can be covered by Medicaid. Costs may also be covered by Medicaid Managed Care or Managed Long Term Care with proper authorizations. Veterans may qualify for program coverage with approval from the Veteran’s Administration. Private pay options can also be arranged.
Catskill Regional’s ADHC staff includes a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and a Social Worker. Together, this team of compassionate professionals coordinates individually tailored care plans encompassing nursing evaluation and treatment, physical therapy, speech pathology, nutrition assessment, occupational therapy, social services, psychosocial assessment, rehabilitation and socialization and leisure activities.
ADHC staff also coordinate referrals to proper entities when further care is suggested or required. This can include wound care, endocrinology, dentistry, audiology, ophthalmology, cardiology and more. Nursing can also follow through on ongoing labs coordinate intravenous therapy for outpatients with the infusion center.
