Family of Mary May Schmidt Donates Funds to Catskill Regional Medical Center
The husband and family of Mary May Schmidt graciously donated funding in her memory and in honor of the caring and compassionate nurses in Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Oncology and Infusion Center.
“We are very grateful to Mr. Schmidt for his generous donation, made in memory of his late wife, Mary May Schmidt, who had received excellent care from the nurses in our Infusion Center,” said Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Schiller. “It is through the spirit of philanthropy and gifts like this that we are able to continue caring for our community at the highest clinical standards and in the best healing environment possible.”
Through the generosity of Mary May’s family, the Oncology and Infusion Center was renovated to create a visual flow and a calming environment. It includes new paint colors that soften the palette and integrate a calming sense, new carpeting and a reception desk with new finishes.
New artwork was also integrated and is indicative of the region’s landscapes. The Center’s furniture was upgraded including a staff break room that was changed to a larger room and now includes a new table, chairs and lockers. A mirror was installed for use by staff with patients who are in need of wigs and oncology-related accessories.
A visitors’ waiting room was also transformed with a new color palette, literature rack and artwork with whimsical landscapes to engage the viewer. Patients and visitors now enjoy a beautiful healing environment where a plaque in Mary May’s name adorns the Center.
