The RISE Program (RISE – Rape, Intervention, Services & Education of Sullivan County) at Catskill Regional Medical Center will be hosting its 7th Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes® event!
The event will be held on Thursday, April 26 at the Sullivan County Government Center located at 100 North Street in Monticello, NY. Registration will begin at 4:00 PM; the walk commences at 5:00 PM and continues through 7:00 PM.
With another person experiencing a sexual assault every 98 seconds and one out of every six American women having been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime according to RAINN.org, the lighthearted approach draws serious attention to the cause, and to the services that RISE provides in Sullivan County.
How To Register
All walkers must register for the event. Registration will be completed on the day of the event. You can download this form to pre-fill it and bring with you to the event, or you can receive and fill it out once you arrive. Registration is $10.
Men are challenged to walk a mile (or almost a mile) in red high heels to support survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault. There will be a selection of shoes available at the walk for those interested in red pumps or high heels. Men, women, and childrenparticipate in the walk.
