November 12, 2008 - Harris, N.Y. - Barbara J. Gentile, RN, has joined Catskill Regional Medical Center as Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for all nursing care services. "Barbara will be a valuable addition to our senior management team," says Steve Ruwoldt, CEO. "She brings impressive credentials and a proven track record to Catskill Regional. I look forward to working closely with her as we lead the hospital to a new level of excellence." Previously, Ms. Gentile held the position of acting Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, NJ, in charge of the Patient Care Services program. Her responsibilities included nursing care compliance with national regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission. She has also served as Assistant Vice-President of Patient Care Services and Director of Maternal/Child Health Services at Newton Memorial; Director of Women's & Children's Services at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern; Manager of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatrics at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ; and Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Ms. Gentile holds a Master of Nursing degree from Lewis University where she went on to serve as a faculty member. She has also taught at St. Xavier University and Trinity College. Additionally, Ms. Gentile has earned registered nurse certifications from the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the University of Chicago and the American Nurses Association. She is a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, the American Nurses Association and the international honor society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau. Ms. Gentile resides in Hardyston, NJ.
