August 27, 2012 - Harris, N.Y. – Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) announced its next free support group session for individuals with hearing loss, supported by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA). The session will be on Monday, September 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at CRMC’s main Harris campus in the Garden Level meeting room, located across from the cafeteria. The group sessions, held quarterly, offer advice, encouragement and education to individuals with hearing loss.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 36 million Americans (17 percent) have some degree of hearing loss, making it the largest public health issue after heart disease and arthritis.
CRMC’s Hearing Loss Support Group is facilitated by Dr. Deborah Lynn, a local audiologist. The support group provides individuals with the latest information about the impact of hearing loss and the technology options available; it also provides a unique forum for individuals to discuss strategies to manage hearing loss.
Registration is not necessary. For more information, contact Stephanie Morse at smorse1@hvc.rr.com
HLAA provides assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss.
