April 2, 2010 - Harris, N.Y. - Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) will launch a free monthly community health lecture series at the Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon, N.Y. The series, lead by Dr. Daryl McClendon of the Callicoon Family Health Center, will cover common health issues such as obesity and diabetes. It will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Grover M. Hermann Hospital Cafeteria. On Tuesday, April 20, Dr. McClendon will present the first topic titled, "Heart Health & Cardiovascular Disease," and will provide an overview of signs and symptoms of heart disease, genetic and dietary causes for poor heart health, and medical and alternative treatments to improve heart health. Dr. Daryl McClendon is the family practice physician at the Callicoon Family Health Center. Dr. McClendon graduated from Western University of Health Sciences' College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Los Angeles County, Calif. He completed an internship and family practice residency at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, South Shore in Queens County, N.Y.
