MARY CADE MEMORIAL HEALTH & CRAFT FAIR – 06/15/2009
June 15, 2009 – Callicoon, N.Y. – Something old and something new. The Grover Hermann Hospital Auxiliary and Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) are once again sponsoring a Annual Health & Craft Fair at the Callicoon Division on Rt. 97 in Callicoon, N.Y. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. This year, in addition to free health screenings, something new has been added – an Antique Car Show (AACA) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Any proud owner of one of these beauties is encouraged to participate. Also, they will be hosting an SPCA Pet Adoption from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. It is a proven fact, pets add to an individual’s well-being. Many free health tests will again be available, including cholesterol and glucose screening performed by CRMC laboratory personnel from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. – 12 hours fasting is required for accurate results of these tests. Blood pressure check will also be available. Visitors are encouraged to get free hearing tests performed by Stuart Kabak from Catskill Hearing & Audiological Services starting at 9:30 a.m. Brown bag assessment will be available to check medications for any possible interactions. Bring all current medications and any over-the-counter products. Various health information booths will be available, i.e. S.C. Cancer Screening, Epic Senior Prescription Program, Mid-Hudson Catskill Diabetic Coalition and many more. Ethan Singer, N/P will be on hand to discuss Diabetes Education. Make sure to check out the new Rehabilitation Area. Director of Rehab Services, Amy Cook will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the department and provide a tour. All of the services and programs are being offered as a way of saying Thank You to the community for all its support and to promote healthy living. New entertainment this year – two great groups will be performing – The Back Porch Gang and also the PA Jazz Assassins. A pair of Docs (Dr. Paul Salzberg and N/P Ethan Singer) are also expected. Madame Zenobia will be back, but only until 11 a.m. due to a prior commitment. She can tell people things about themselves they probably didn’t know. Children’s activities include a Noon mini-run with prizes for all and a Teddy Bear/Doll Clinic. Bring your teddy or doll and they can check out the Emergency Department. Face painting will also be available. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department K-9 dog will also make an appearance, unless he is called away to a job. They will also provide finger printing and the D.A.R.E. program. Water safety will be addressed by the National Park Service – be sure to visit their booth -it could save your life. The Grover Hermann Hospital Auxiliary will offer flea market items, refreshments and delicious baked goods. Chef Jeff will once again be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs on the new grill. A Silent Auction will be held from 9 a.m. – Noon. Winner announcements will be made at Noon. Items must be picked up by 1:30 p.m. Many beautiful raffle prizes will also be available and announced at the fair. The Auxiliary is also offering raffle tickets on two separate fundraisers – one is a free weekend at the Villa Roma Resort and the other winner will have a choice of one (1) of the following: a 22 Gun Safe, or a Weber Grille, or a 5 ½ HP snow blower, electric start. These drawings will be conducted at the Auxiliary meeting in November 2009. Everyone is encouraged to come out, Rain or Shine for a day of healthy living and fun.
