Jonathan Schiller named CEO of Catskill Regional Medical Center
The Greater Hudson Valley Health System (GHVHS), comprised of Catskill Regional Medical Center and Orange Regional Medical Center, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Schiller to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC). He will assume the role on June 26 from current CRMC CEO Gerard Galarneau, MD who has also been appointed President of the Greater Hudson Valley Health System Medical Group. Dr. Galarneau will remain as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at CRMC.
Mr. Schiller had been serving as Interim Chief Financial Officer for GHVHS and will continue to serve as a member of the executive leadership team. In his new role, he will provide strategic vision and leadership for CRMC. Mr. Schiller has many years of high level hospital experience and is expected to utilize his immense knowledge of program development and operational excellence at CRMC. He will also maintain his executive leadership roles in Revenue Cycle and Graduate Medical Education for GHVHS.
Mr. Schiller joined Orange Regional in 2004 as Administrator of Revenue Cycle Management and was later promoted to Vice President and Site Administrator of the Arden Hill Campus. In 2009, he was promoted to Vice President of Hospital Operations. In this role, he oversaw operations on the Arden Hill Campus and provided organizational leadership to Food Services; Facilities; Psychiatry; Perioperative Services; Environmental Services; BioMedical Services; Security; Laboratory and Pharmacy. In 2011, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and managed the daily operations of Orange Regional Medical Center.
Prior to joining Orange Regional Medical Center, Mr. Schiller was the Director of Patient Accounting at New York University Medical Center, and a member of Cap Gemini, Ernst and Young’s national healthcare consulting practice, with specific areas of focus in hospital revenue cycle management and financial turn-around projects.
Mr. Schiller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Services from LeMoyne College and a Master’s degree in Health Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Healthcare Financial Management Association. He volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association’s Hudson Valley Chapter as well as the Board of Directors for Leadership Orange and Christ Health Care Ministry.
