CRMC ANNOUNCES WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS FOR PATIENTS, VISITORS AND PHYSICIANS – 11/23/2011
Nov. 23, 2011 – Harris, N.Y. – Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is pleased to announce the availability of complimentary wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) for patients, visitors, physicians and staff throughout its main Harris campus. There will be an open network for patients, guests and visitors and a secured network for physicians and staff. The $140,000 project was funded in large part by CRMC Golf Tournament fundraisers from 2010 and previous years.
Patients can now use the Wi-Fi network to stay in touch with family and friends via e-mail and the Internet if they have a laptop or other Wi-Fi enabled personal digital assistant (PDA), making their stay more comfortable. J.P. McGuirk, Director of Marketing and Public Relations said, “This is a great amenity to offer our patients, their guests and hospital visitors, as it provides the flexibility to communicate, search for information or be entertained while at CRMC.”
The Wi-Fi will improve operational efficiency and convenience while enhancing wireless bedside monitoring and enabling the use of wireless IV pumps. Physicians and staff members now have the ability to view medical information faster and easier.
“The wireless technology at CRMC will help enhance the patient and family centered care we offer by allowing the patients and family to interact with the care providers at the point of care,” said Shafiq Rab, the Greater Hudson Valley Health System’s Chief Information Officer.
