CATSKILL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER LABORATORIES AWARDED NATIONAL ACCREDITATION – 7/30/14

Harris, N.Y.– Catskill Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that its Seelig Division Medical Laboratory, Harris, N.Y. and Grover Hermann Division Medical Laboratory, Callicoon, N.Y. have both been awarded recognition from the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). This accomplishment was attained following an on-site inspection of both hospitals, as required by the CAP’s Accreditation Program.

This national acknowledgement was earned due to the laboratories’ excellence in providing high-quality service to their surrounding communities in a variety of areas. CAP inspectors examine numerous details such as laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record and overall management.

With an inception dating to the 1960’s, the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is recognized by the U.S. Federal Government as one which is equal-to or more-stringent-than their own inspection programs, and remains the gold standard in laboratory accreditation. CAP promotes accountable, high-quality and cost-effective patient care.

“It is our honor to be recognized for the high standard of service and precaution we take when caring for all of our laboratory patients,” said Dr. Nader Okby, MD, FCAP, Greater Hudson Valley Health System Laboratory Medical Director. “We look forward to continuing to exceed our community’s expectations when it comes to the care they will receive at all of our medical locations.”
