CATSKILL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER EARNS AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY ACCREDITATION – 2/19/14

Grover M. Hermann Hospital awarded accreditation in mammography services

February 19, 2014 – Harris, N.Y. – The Grover M. Hermann Division of Catskill Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term accreditation in mammography services as a result of a recent American College of Radiology (ACR) survey. Digital mammography incorporates advanced imaging technology that provides extremely sharp images and lower radiation exposure, assisting in the early diagnosis of breast cancer.

The ACR’s accreditation process includes peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality assurance, image quality and radiology dose.

“I am proud to have earned this distinction and our entire team of Board-certified radiologists, qualified technical staff is committed to providing exceptional patient care and service to our community,” says Catskill Regional’s Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer Rolland Bojo. “Patients that receive treatment at an ACR-accredited imaging facility can be assured they are receiving the best possible treatment.”

Mammography services are offered at the Catskill Regional Imaging Center and at Grover M. Hermann Hospital. Digital mammography is like having a conventional mammogram, though women may notice shorter exam times and a reduction in call backs due to the increase clarity of the images taken. Digital mammography takes less than half the time of conventional mammography since there’s no waiting for film to develop.  Digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically.
