Laboratory Services

The Department of Laboratory Medicine is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks, JCAHO and is licensed by the NYSDOH.

We offer the following wide array of testing and outpatient services:

Courier Services
Our couriers pick up specimens and deliver supplies and reports to facilities and physician offices in Sullivan and Ulster Counties. We offer STAT pickups. These services are available from 7:30 am through 8 pm, Mon.–Fri. Weekend hours are 11 am through 3pm.

Phlebotomy Services
Outpatient hours are Mon.–Fri.,
7 am–7 pm; Sat.–Sun. from 8 am–
12 noon.

DOT Collection and Evidential Breath Alcohol Testing
Available 24/7 for post-accident collections; Mon.–Fri. 8 am–4 pm for routine collections. Our certified technicians follow Federal guidelines and are available to go on-site to provide this service. This service provides legal drug testing collection.

Results Reporting
Our lab is completely computerized with the Mysis Information System. We are also able to provide faxing of results to your physician immediately upon completion.

Microbiology
offering the latest technology for detection, identification and sensitivity testing for all routine cultures. We also offer rapid DNA probe testing for many infectious diseases. Our environmental lab is licensed by NYSDOH to test potable water for total coliforms and E.coli.

Chemistry
providing all routine chemistry testing, cholesterol, high density cholesterol, cardiac markers, therapeutic drug levels, drugs of abuse testing (for emergency use or drug rehabilitation).

Special Chemistry
In addition to many other services, we offer endocrine testing (complete thyroid panel), tumor markers (CEA, AFP and PSA), HbA1C, (glycosolated hemoglobin for diabetics) rubella, measles, chicken pox, Lyme and HIV testing.

Hematology
Hematological evaluations, coagulation studies and urinalysis are performed 24/7. Semen analysis is available by appointment Mon.–Fri. by calling 845-794-3300 Ext. 2198.

Transfusion Service
Offering blood typing, antibody screening, crossmatch, titers and prenatal services. We work in conjunction with the American Red Cross in sponsoring blood drives and providing donor education. Our donor recruiting efforts have been nationally recognized by the American Red Cross.

Anatomic Pathology & Cytology Routine tissue examination, frozen sections, immunohistochemical stains, and PAP smears are just a few of the services offered. Open Mon.–Fri. and closed on holidays.

Harris Campus Lab

Location: Take exit 102 from Route 17 West or East. Follow the signs for the hospital. Enter the front of the hospital. The laboratory is located on the first floor past and to the right of the elevators, next to the Radiology Department.

We have two Pathologists who are Board Certified in both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. They are available Mon.–Fri. for consultation and are on call for emergencies on weekends and holidays. Each laboratory section has a supervisor who meets NYSDOH supervisory requirements and is ASCP certified. These individuals are available Mon.–Fri., 7 am to 3 pm to answer your questions or concerns regarding testing. We have an evening supervisor Mon.–Fri., 3–11 pm. There is a supervisor available every weekend.

Callicoon Campus Lab

Location: On Route 97 South of Callicoon.

The Callicoon Hospital Lab is open from 7 am to 4 pm Mon.–Fri. and 7 am to 3 pm on weekends. A phlebotomist is available to draw blood during these hours. The laboratory is staffed with a supervisor seven days per week. A supervisor/MT is available on-call for emergencies from 3 pm to 7 am. Testing performed on-site includes blood banking, hematology, coagulation, cardiac markers, urinalysis and some routine chemistry. All testing not performed on-site is sent to the Harris Campus via courier.
